Save the Dates!

4th Annual Teaneck International Film Festival

Scheduled for Nov. 20-22, '09

Teaneck, NJ (June '09)-In spite of the recession that has affected arts organizations everywhere,  the Teaneck International Film Festival remains committed to presenting compelling entertainment at an affordable price. The fourth Teaneck International Film Festival will take place Nov. 20 to Nov. 22 (the weekend before Thanksgiving). Films will be shown at the Puffin Cultural Forum, Cedar Lane Cinemas and the screening room at Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, in Teaneck.

"This year's festival will be filled with small gems," said  CONTACT _Con-3C9394FD1 \c \s \l Ellen Rand, executive director. "Our goal once again is to highlight the kinds of films that are not shown in the multiplexes - and to give audiences an opportunity to meet and discuss the films with the talented filmmakers who are able to turn their vision into reality despite enormous obstacles."  The film program will be announced in the Fall.

Finding financial support is a huge challenge not only for independent filmmakers but also for the festival itself, but Rand noted, "We're proud to announce that our many of our sponsors are returning in 2009, without whose support we wouldn't be able to present an unforgettable program of independent feature films and documentaries." Among them: the Puffin Foundation; Holy Name Hospital; Davis, Saperstein & Salomon;  The Teaneck Suburbanite; as well as Bergen County Links, Classic Residence by Hyatt, J&J Pharmacy and Brier Rose Books.  The festival is a project of the Puffin Foundation ( www.puffinfoundation.org ), a nonprofit organization that has supported the arts and artists for more than 20 years. In addition, funding for the recent special screening of a "Party Mix" program of short films for children was made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, through grant funds administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.

In addition, the festival is welcoming new film sponsors this year who will add to an outstanding mix of films from a variety of cultures and perspectives. So far, new film sponsors include Garden State Equality and the New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest.

To learn more about the grass-roots-run festival, visit the web site at www.puffinfoundation.org. If you'd like to get involved with the film festival, serve on a committee, help with fundraising -- or contribute - the festival would be glad to hear from you. Email is teaneckfilmfestival@gmail.com; telephone is 201-836-0114. Tax deductible contributions are always welcome! You can send checks, made out to Teaneck International Film Festival, to TIFF at 20 Puffin Way, Teaneck, NJ 07666.

The Fundraiser
Posted on June 12, 2009
'The Fundraiser' is a locally written and produced, ensemble driven, comedic short. The majority of the cast is set, however we're in need to two additional roles. All roles are non-union and unpaid, but you will receive meals and credit, and will also be working with local professionals, as well as a great cast.
The two roles we're looking for are:
Crazy Old Man - Aged 70+ - Pure comic relief... because he can and does blurt out whatever he's thinking, which is usually slightly vulgar.
Steve - Aged 28-35 - Normal looking guy. Cynical and scruffy looking... but he cleans up well.
Please send a copy of your headshot and resume (word doc or pdf is fine for the resume, jpeg preferred for headshot). We'll be attempting to hold auditions for these roles at the end of next week or sooner, depending on everyone's schedule. Thanks in advance for your submission.
